What's the difference between a cyber warranty and a cyber insurance policy?
Here's how they are different:

Claims Process: Can be lengthy and adversarial with adjusters involved.

Cyber Warranties:
A guarantee from a vendor covering costs in the event of a breach, provided certain criteria are met.

Coverage: Focuses on specific product or service security assurance.
Cost: Often included with the product/service or available as an add-on; pricing varies.

Benefits: Assurance of product/service security and encourages adoption of security best practices.

Drawbacks: Coverage is limited to first-party incidents and specific to the product/service.

Social engineering ransomware attack that started with a LinkedIn impersonation:
- A group of hackers called Scattered Spider used ransomware and social engineering to disrupt MGM Resorts, one of the largest casino chains in the world
- The attack affected everything from hotel room keys to slot machines, and caused long lines and delays for guests and staff
- Casinos are attractive targets for cybercriminals because of the large amounts of money and sensitive data they handle
- Some other examples of major casino hacks in the last 10 years are:
- Sands Casino in Las Vegas was breached and wiped out by hackers in 2014
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and four other casinos owned by Affinity Gaming were hacked and had their customer data stolen in 2015
- Four casinos in North America were compromised by hackers using a malware called FIN8 in 2019
- MGM Resorts had the personal details of more than 10.6 million guests leaked by hackers in 2020
