If you thought it was about content, you missed the whole point.
We started the day filming Foodie Friday like we always do. Walking into a spot, grabbing a table, talking through what to order and chatting through some talking points.
Almost two years into this series, and I can tell you this wasn’t built for views. It was built for conversations.
It created familiarity before the introduction ever happened.
It gave people a window into who I am outside of escrow.
It turned “what do I say to her?” into “I already feel like I know her.”
And in that same breath of explaining that… this happened.
We ended up sitting next to a group of six friends in their 70s visiting from the East Coast. They’ve been traveling together for over 50 years. Same group. Different cities. Decades of stories.
One of them casually mentions the head of the table was the former CEO of BJ’s. Ironically, where I once sat for my first meeting with before joining all those years ago.
Next thing you know, we’re deep in a conversation about how the pizookie was created, how it ties back to his family, and how part of those proceeds still support a cause close to them to this day.
Twenty minutes later, we’re not filming anymore.
We’re just… in it.
Sharing stories, giving foodie recs, learning about their life and years of travels together, connecting with complete strangers who now feel like people we know.
That’s the part most people who haven’t started yet are missing.
Content isn’t about being an influencer.
It’s not about posting yourself or being self absorbed.
It’s not about trying to be seen.
It’s about creating access.
➡️ Access to conversations you would have never had
➡️ Access to people you never would’ve met
➡️ Access to moments that change how you see everything
If you’ve been sitting on the fence because you don’t want to “be that person” online… you’re looking at it all wrong.
I’m not in escrow. I’m in people.
And this is what happens when you give people a reason to walk up and already feel connected.
So no… this wasn’t about content.
But content is what mad
