Wilsey Asset Management Welcome to Wilsey Asset Management. Your source for updated financial news and facts. linktr.ee/wilseyassetmanagement

At Wilsey Asset Management, our main goal is to help educate our clients through the difficulties in the financial world. We offer Investment Services and Financial Planning to individuals and corporations. Investment Services: Our job is to make our clients money and provide attractive returns on their investments by using a transparent, common-sense approach to investing through an Individualize

d Concentrated Value Portfolio. What makes Wilsey Asset Management different is our management style. While other investment advisors and brokers are selling and using mutual funds for your investments, Brent builds your portfolio using individual equities. Often times over diversification and asset allocation leaves the investor with poor returns and the broker/advisor with big commissions. If you’re tired of investing the way you have in the past, maybe it’s time you took a different approach to your investments using fundamental analysis. This style, which has been used by investment greats like Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch and David Dreman has been a very influential management style. Financial Planning Services: Our job is to help clients make financial decisions that are aligned with their deepest values and most important life goals. The purpose of true financial planning is to facilitate the ongoing process of making sensible decisions about money to achieve life goals. Unfortunately, the mask of financial planning has been used to sell commission-based products or gather assets that may or may not be in the best interest of the client. At Wilsey Asset Management, our goal is to offer a financial planning style the way it was originally intended to be, unbiased and as client-benefiting as possible.

AI Scams Are Getting Worse

AI is making scams more convincing than ever, especially for seniors. Scammers can now clone voices, create fake documents, impersonate loved ones, and pressure victims into sending money before they have time to think.
The best defense is to slow down, verify who you are dealing with, and never let someone pressure you into keeping a financial emergency secret.

SEC Cracks Down

The SEC is getting tougher on financial fraud and bad actors.

With David Woodcock leading the SEC’s Enforcement Division, the focus is on fighting financial fraud, insider trading, market manipulation and schemes that harm retail investors.

SEC enforcement activity has fallen significantly in recent years, but Woodcock is working to rebuild the division and fill vacant positions.

It won’t happen overnight, but stronger enforcement is good news for investors. The goal should be simple: crack down on the criminals who hurt investors and protect the integrity of the financial markets.

Jobs Report Shocks Markets

The August jobs report came in much stronger than expected, with 162,000 jobs added versus roughly 53,000 expected. Unemployment held at 4.1%, the labor force expanded, and job openings remain above the number of unemployed workers.

The labor market is cooling, but it still appears healthy. That could make it harder for the Federal Reserve to justify aggressive rate cuts if inflation remains sticky.

You Are Not Your Own Bank

“Be your own bank” sounds appealing, but you can’t literally borrow from yourself. When you borrow against a life insurance policy, home, or investment account, you are still borrowing from a financial institution and paying interest.

The ability to borrow against an asset can be useful, but it should never be the main reason to buy the asset. Look at the costs, risks, returns, liquidity, and whether the product actually fits your financial goals first.

Travel Is Good for You

Research suggests that travel can do more than give you a break from your routine. Vacations have been linked to better mood, improved sleep, greater well-being and even lower levels of loneliness and depression.

Even a short one-night getaway may provide a meaningful boost. And experiences that involve learning, challenges or moments of awe may offer even greater benefits.

But there’s an important caveat: Don’t go into debt for a vacation. Travel should fit within your budget and support your long-term financial goals, not work against them.

The AI Bubble Is Here

AI is attracting an extraordinary amount of capital. Since the beginning of 2024, roughly $1.1 trillion has been spent on chips, power infrastructure, construction and networking, with total AI spending potentially approaching $6 trillion by the end of the decade.
The technology may be transformative, but the bigger question for investors is whether the economic value created will ultimately justify that level of spending.
The technology can be real, demand can be real and companies can be profitable, while the investment itself can still become a bubble.
