She won! My Village Innovations won $35K angel investment yesterday & Audience Choice (2 RT tickets sponsored by Alaska Airlines ) at SDSU San Diego Angel Conference. HUGE congrats to co-founders Andrea (Annie) Munoz (CEO) and Alfonso Muñoz (COO).

This journey through our ecosystem for MVI is a testament of excellent founder-market fit, patented exceptional transformational product, team coachability, and determination/grit by all involved. Well done! MVI won 🥇 Southwest regional Women’s Fast Pitch, then won 🥇 Women’s Venture Summit in Sept 2025.

Then, became a The Brink SBDC client for ongoing pitch prep and investor relations support. WON $100K in Jan 2026 through a state-funded San Diego & Imperial SBDC Network program via California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) thx to Benton Moore & Daniel Fitzgerald & Stephanie L. Garcia & Julie Clowes.

Then, went on to apply for SDAC, got top 6 and then won yesterday runner up with a $35K investment . Last week at TechCon SoCal she won 🏅$25K investment from Emmeline Ventures and won 🏆audience choice. What traction! AND so many invetsir convos and community events in between … it truly does takes a village.

I’m beyond proud of this founding team who are passionate about changing the 180 yr old status quo of OB GYN exams with a soft, comfortable, disposable medical device. BRAVO!

🌺 I’m back… on Substack. But this time, more boldly in my calling than ever before.

And here’s the realization that changed everything for me:

The thing you and others have viewed as your weakness might actually be your CALLING staring directly at you.

✨ Your softness
✨ Your empathy
✨ Your joy
✨ Your multi-lane mind
✨ Your creativity
✨ Your faith
✨ Your ability to encourage others relentlessly
✨ Your instinct to build community
✨ Your ability to see potential in people before anyone else does

Maybe those things are not distractions from your purpose.

Maybe they ARE the purpose.

I wrote something deeply personal:
✨ Called, Not Scattered: A Revival of Joy, Reclaiming My Calling, and Choosing Human Flourishing ✨

For years, I thought my path looked too layered:
➡️ scientist
➡️ entrepreneur
➡️ investor
➡️ ecosystem builder
➡️ professor
➡️ mentor
➡️ strategist
➡️ prayer warrior

But God does not waste experiences.

Every founder conversation.
Every portfolio company.
Every failure.
Every TEDx stage.
Every season where I questioned myself.

Preparation.

I can now clearly see that God was weaving together every thread of my life into a calling centered around servant leadership, innovation, investing in people, and building communities rooted in trust, goodness, purpose, and hope.

I fully reject the narrative that kindness is weakness in business.

✨ Joy is strategy
✨ Trust is currency
✨ Flourishing is foundational to innovation

And maybe you’re not scattered either.

Maybe you’re being prepared for exactly what God has called you to do.

Now stepping into a new season in NYC — searching for her next “THING” with courage, curiosity, and trust in God’s plan.

Praying over her journey as she applies to the ARISE Collective discipleship program — a year devoted to community, presence, purpose, and being filled by His Spirit.

I’ve seen her take bold steps as a leader on the golf team and advocating for her team and coaches. I’ve experienced her being courageous as I asked her to be on our alumni innovation panel at the startup competition. I’ve seen how her eyes light up and her heart is filled talking about fashion and impact. We had to connect before she is off .. boldly taking on what this next journey has in store for her.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is say yes before you know exactly where He’s leading. 🤍

What a night filled with INNOVATION! Honored to be a JUDGE at the annual Demo Day for The Basement at UC San Diego - my stomping grounds for years about over a decade ago. The startups were so well mentored and polished with their tech ideas for impacting this world!

We had AgTech, EdTech for Helthcare, SportsTech, FoodTech, and AI. CONGRATS to the winners - you all did fantastic !!

FILM 🎥 PREMIERE TIME! 🎞️ My second film ever investing in - a student film 🎥 - “Turf Wars” - by one of the most talented, thoughtful, whimsical and deeply faithful young man I have known for all the years I have been at Biola University - the uniquely and awesomely made David Alexander. He is a double major - 💸 Business and Film 🎞️ - so watch out world !

Honored to have been pitched to early in the semester with a well thought out pitch, budget and vision, easy funding vehicle, and then excellent investor communications and relations by the founder, ending in a film debut that was grounded and authentically DAVID.

I couldn’t be prouder of this student and cannot wait to see what he will flourish to be. He will have masssive Kingdom impact for sure !
