Fairly big sell off in the bond market today. The average 30 yr fixed rate pushed up by .25% or so.

A good reminder for those homeowners who can benefit from a refinance to never get complacent. If there is an opportunity to grab a lower rate, do it. Rates can change quickly and continued low rates are never guaranteed.

I usually don't compliment politicians but this bipartisan group of Senators actually gets it. Servicing concerns seem to be the #1 issue keeping mortgage loan pricing form improving right now.

As long as the Feds are throwing trillions of $$ around right now they might as well give some to these servicers.

A bipartisan septet of senators called on the FSOC to provide liquidity to servicers, arguing that the housing finance system would be imperiled without it.

Did you know that an FHA loan originated in 2012 with a 4% rate has an effective rate of almost 5.25% when factoring in the high FHA mortgage insurance?

I have had great success of late taking borrowers out of FHA loans with expensive mortgage insurance and putting them into conventional loans with no or lower MI. Just last week I saved a borrower over $450 per month just by removing the FHA MI.
