Labor Day is all about celebrating the workforce, and the best way to honor hard work is to take a real break from it. So to celebrate, our team is fully committing to the cause by penciling some cat naps into our schedules this weekend.

A quick heads-up: The office is closed on Monday, September 7th. We will be back on Tuesday, September 8th — recharged, refreshed, and ready to get to work.

We hope you have a long weekend full of good food, good company, and zero emails!

As you may know, it’s almost time for Medicare’s annual enrollment period (AEP), a key opportunity to alter your Medicare health and prescription drug plans for the upcoming year. The Medicare AEP runs from October 15th to December 7th every year, making now a potentially advantageous time to review your current coverage and plan ahead for any changes next year.

Thinking about this now, before the period opens, can make the process easier and give you enough time to compare options and make an informed decision about your care. Swipe for a few areas to revisit as you prepare for the beginning of the AEP.

A little preparation now can make the process simpler and help you choose coverage that fits your needs. That said, if you’d like to go over your current plan, feel free to reach out. We are always here to help you carefully assess your needs so you can make an informed decision.

Each year, Medicare drug plans can change what they cover, how much you pay, and the rules around your prescriptions. That means a medication that worked for you this year may cost more, or may not be covered at all, next year.

A simple prescription coverage review can help you:

✅Confirm your prescriptions are still covered under your plan.
✅Identify potential restrictions like prior authorization or step therapy.
✅Explore lower-cost or generic alternatives.
✅Avoid unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

For questions about how your medications interact, speak with your pharmacist or prescribing physician.

With rising prescription costs and ongoing changes to Medicare drug coverage, reviewing your medications annually is one of the best ways to protect both your health and your budget.

If you have questions about your coverage or want help reviewing your current plan, we are here to help. Give us a call today, and we can get started.

If you’re turning 65 soon and are unsure about what it means to enroll in Medicare, you are not alone. One of the most common questions we hear from those nearing retirement is around the timeline for signing up for Medicare.

So, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help you stay on track:

✅Know your enrollment window. Your initial enrollment window lasts for seven months — three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after your birthday. Enrolling early in this timeframe can help ensure your coverage begins right when you need it.

✅Understand how to sign up. Some individuals are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, while others need to take action themselves to enroll in Original Medicare. This often depends on whether you are already receiving Social Security benefits.

✅Do not delay without a plan. Waiting too long to enroll without qualifying coverage can result in delayed coverage start dates and ongoing late-enrollment penalties.

✅Be aware of other options. If you are still working and covered under an employer plan, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that can allow you to defer your enrollment. However, missing all enrollment windows can limit your options and increase costs, so it's best to clarify this early.

Medicare decisions can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate them alone. Whether you are approaching 65 or are simply evaluating your options, contact us for guidance tailored to your situation.

August is National Eye Exam Month, a perfect reminder to schedule your annual eye exam if you haven’t already.

A comprehensive annual eye exam is covered by most vision plans, meaning you can obtain this key preventive care as easily as scheduling your appointment.

Additionally, these exams can do more for your health than just update your prescription. Your eyes can reveal early warning signs of serious health conditions that you might not know about otherwise, including:

👁️ Hypertension - Irregularities in the eye's blood vessels can signal high blood pressure before other symptoms appear.
👁️ High cholesterol - A yellowish tint or patch around the cornea or eyelid may indicate elevated cholesterol levels.
👁️ Autoimmune disorders - Inflammation in the eye can be an early sign of conditions like lupus.
👁️ Thyroid disease - Bulging or protruding eyes are often associated with thyroid-related conditions.
👁️ Cancer - Unusual structures within the eye can indicate ocular melanoma, and changes around the eyelids may reveal certain skin cancers.

If it has been more than a year since your last eye exam, let this month be your reminder to get it on the calendar.

Not sure what your vision benefits cover? Give our team a call. We are happy to help you take a look.
