Congratulations to the Flores Family!!!!! Awesome achievement!!!

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS. The Harlingen Cotton Committee is proud to announce that the first bale of cotton harvested in the United States of America for 2025 was delivered to Willamar Cotton and Grain on June 24 at 2 PM by Flores Farms Joint Venture of Brownsville, Texas. The 2,850 pounds of DP&L 1646 seed cotton was planted on February 10, 2025 by Teofilo Flores, Jr and harvested by his son, Michael Flores of Flores and Son Farms of Brownsville. The Flores family are fourth generation Texas farmers with deep roots in Willamar, Texas. In the 1950s, Teofilo’s father was a farmer and rancher in Willamar and his mother, Maria, ran a restaurant at Willamar Gin. Today, the family farms from Brownsville to Willamar and operates a custom cotton harvesting operation. On September 25, 2025, the Harlingen Cotton Committee alongside the Algodon Club will auction the first bale to provide educational scholarships and grants in agriculture. Last year the two committees awarded a combined $60,000 in scholarships and grants.

LATEST TX1015 CROP REPORT! The weather has cooperated very well over the last few weeks. Lots of warm days with a constant breeze and as a result harvest is good and strong. Our current production is yielding strong numbers, hitting marks in all sizes with excellent quality. You can expect good volume to fulfill orders, including a promotable volume on all sizes (especially Sweets and Yellows) for the next 2-3 months.

A friendly reminder – Onions do NOT have to be flat to be MILD!
