Open enrollment is just ~10 weeks. Special Enrollment Periods cover the other 42. There are 13 SEPs you can use RIGHT NOW to write Marketplace business outside OEP:
✅ Loss of coverage (your strongest one)
✅ Moving to a new ZIP or county
✅ Marriage, birth, adoption, new dependent
✅ Divorce or death that causes loss of coverage
✅ Medicaid/CHIP denial — the one most agents miss
✅ Gaining lawful immigration status
✅ Release from incarceration, tribal status, AmeriCorps, exceptional circumstances
⚠️ But the rules changed in 2026: the old 150% income SEP is gone, and SEP enrollments are heavily audited. Document everything upfront or risk a retroactive clawback.
