One of my clients opened her renewal and her premium had jumped to the FULL price. No subsidy. She thought the marketplace made a mistake.
It didn't.
She fell into "failure to reconcile." She received APTC but never filed her 2023 and 2024 taxes. After two years of not reconciling, the marketplace strips the subsidy β and the client gets hit with the full premium.
Most of these clients got a notice. Most of them never read it.
Here's the part that matters for YOU as an agent:
β
You can pull your at-risk clients inside HealthSherpa β
You can call them BEFORE the premium drafts β
Once they file and reconcile, you update the application to restore eligibility
Proactive agents keep their book. Reactive agents lose clients and trust.
This is exactly the stuff nobody teaches you when you get licensed β and it's exactly what I train my agents to handle.
