A lesson learned early in my adult life was that a single event can completely change the trajectory of your story. In a scene from the movie, an event involving a sports almanac is transported to the past and alters the trajectory of the characters' reality. The event in my life did not involve a flying DeLorean but it did have similar ramifications. It was an October afternoon when Two Texas Sta
te Troopers showed up at my work and proceeded to tell me that my wife had lost her life in an automobile accident. Nothing can prepare you for news of this magnitude. Looking back, I'm so grateful that we spent the previous several years working with a financial advisor who helped us implement good financial habits, strategize paying off debt and taught us the importance of long-term planning, rainy day funds and the right types and amounts of life insurance. This is the inspiration for my work. In honoring her legacy through my service and stewardship.
