I asked my team to think bigger.
I challenged them to expand their vision for what we can build together, raise their expectations, and step outside what feels comfortable.
But leadership has a way of turning the challenge back on you.
I had to ask myself: How can I ask my team to stretch if I am unwilling to stretch, too? How can I challenge them to pursue a bigger future while I stay safely inside the routines I already know?
Today, I took the first steps in launching a new initiative to grow my business.
And if I am being honest, it intimidated me.
Not because I did not believe I could do it, but because it was new. It would have been easy to keep planning, perfecting, and telling myself I was too busy. Sometimes being busy looks like productivity when it is really protecting us from the very thing that could move us forward.
So I removed the obstacles.
I put it on my calendar.
Prepared everything I needed.
Rolled up my sleeves.
Put on my sneakers.
And got to work.
By the end of the day, I did not feel depleted. I felt energized. Encouraged. Excited about what could happen because I finally took the first step.
AND TO MY TEAM: I meant every word when I challenged us to think bigger. I am so excited about the next level we are building together, and I am not asking you to take steps I am unwilling to take myself. I will be right there with you, stretching, learning, taking risks, and doing the uncomfortable work our vision requires.
We are going higher, and we are going together. ❤️
Today reminded me that confidence does not always come before action. Sometimes confidence is what meets us after we begin.
Courage does not always look dramatic, either. Sometimes it looks like putting on a blazer and sneakers, walking out the door, and doing the thing you have been thinking about for far too long.
The race does not begin when every question has been answered or every fear has disappeared. It begins when you decide to cross the starting line.
If there is something on your heart that you know could move your life, career, or business forward, give it a place on your calendar. Prepare what you can. Then take the step.
Your future does not need a perfect version of you. It simply needs a willing one!
Sometimes, you just have to do it. ❤️
