🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day!

Today we celebrate the hardworking men and women who get up every day, go to work, build businesses, raise families, serve others, and keep our communities moving forward.

Here in West Texas, I see that work ethic everywhere—from our small business owners and ranchers to teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, tradespeople, and countless others.

Whatever your profession, today is a good reminder that hard work still matters.

I hope everyone gets a chance to slow down, enjoy some time with family and friends, and appreciate the blessings we have.

THURSDAY — I Want the Opportunity to Earn It

I’ve said many times that I’d be honored to be your banker.

But there’s an important word in that sentence:

EARN.

I don’t believe anyone owes me their banking business because we’re friends or because they’ve known me for years.

I want to earn it.

By answering the phone.
By following through.
By making things easier.
By being there when you need me.

If you’re happy with your current bank, that’s great.

But if you’re not, give me an opportunity.

I’d love the chance to earn your business.

WEDNESDAY — Sometimes “No” Isn’t the Final Answer

One thing I’ve learned in banking is that every customer’s situation is different.

Just because something doesn’t fit neatly into a box doesn’t always mean there isn’t another way to look at it.

That’s where having a banker willing to listen, ask questions, and understand the whole story can make a difference.

I can’t promise every answer will be yes.

But I CAN promise I’ll listen, be straightforward with you, and work hard to find a solution when one is available.

Sometimes that’s exactly what people need from their banker.

MONDAY — Don’t Wait Until You Need the Money

Here’s something I tell business owners:

The best time to get to know your banker isn’t when you need a loan tomorrow.

It’s today.

Let your banker learn your business.
Talk about where you’re headed.
Discuss what opportunities may be coming.

Then, when the day comes that you want to buy equipment, purchase a building, expand, or take advantage of an opportunity, you already have someone who understands your story.

Good banking relationships are built BEFORE you need them.
