Today, we’re recognizing Concho Valley Community Action Agency and the important work it does to help local individuals and families move toward stability. ❤️

For decades, CVCAA has connected Concho Valley neighbors with services such as utility and rental assistance, home weatherization, veteran support, case management, homeless services, and other essential resources.

Community members can get involved by reading about the organization’s work, sharing its resources with someone who may need them, and contacting CVCAA directly to ask about current donation or volunteer needs.

August heat can keep sprinkler systems working overtime, but is yours set according to San Angelo’s current watering rules? 💧🌱 Let this be your friendly reminder!

Under the city’s standard conservation guidelines, outdoor watering from April 1 through October 31 is currently limited to:

💧 Twice every seven days
💧 One inch per week or less
💧 No watering between noon and 6 p.m.
💧 No runoff traveling over 150 feet

This is also a good time to walk around the yard while the system is running. Look for broken sprinkler heads, leaks, mist spraying into the wind, or water landing on sidewalks and streets instead of the lawn.

A few minutes spent checking the timer and sprinkler direction can help reduce unnecessary water use during one of the hottest parts of the year.

A few reminders for the morning and afternoon commute:

There is still time for one last summer drive! 🚗☀️

Whether you are visiting San Angelo State Park, heading toward the Hill Country, or exploring another West Texas town, a few checks can help the day go smoothly.

Before pulling out of the driveway:

🚗 Check your tires, oil, and other fluids
⛽ Fill the tank before reaching rural stretches
💧 Pack extra water for everyone in the vehicle
📱 Download your route in case cell service is limited
🔋 Bring a charged phone and backup charger
🌡️ Check the weather and avoid leaving people or pets in a parked vehicle
