Pitmasters unite!

As the 98th annual Tom Tom Festival kicks off, our Hochheim Prairie guys are firing up the grill.

This tasty tradition involves smoking pork for delicious sandwiches as a donation to the first responders who work to keep the event safe.

Our team takes pride in the Yoakum community and is happy to carry on the local camaraderie!

Happy Memorial Day.

A Meaningful Memorial Day

What is Memorial Day to you? Fabulous outdoor gatherings, superb shopping and sales, and delicious spreads of all your favorite foods likely come to mind. As it signifies the official start of summer and you kick off such a fun season with an extra day of freedom, take a moment to truly reflect and remember why such a nationwide holiday even exists.

Memorial Day began as ‘Decoration Day’ in 1868 with a somber tradition of placing wreaths on the graves of those who had lost their lives in the Civil War. It was made a federal observance to honor all fallen members of the Armed Forces in 1971. The last Monday of each May is now set aside to reflect, remember, honor and appreciate all who have so graciously sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we continue to enjoy.

Did you know? As the cool breezes blow swiftly through the calm greens of Arlington National Cemetery, so will over 260,000 flags placed at the headstones of those that fought for such American freedom. Take a moment to remember the sacrifice that each made as you enjoy an extended weekend of festivities — this will ensure a meaningful Memorial Day.

Thursday Stars and Stripes -

Monday is Memorial Day, but today the Old Guard will decorate the graves at Arlington National Cemetery with the stars and stripes of 12” American flags. This display of honor and glory is a humbling sight that showcases the sacrifice that America was built upon.

Hurricane Hype –

What’s all the hubbub? Meteorologists at AccuWeather predict a slightly lower rate of development in the 2026 season ahead.

This is due to El Niño warming waters in the Atlantic and creating ‘wind shears’ that make it challenging for tropical storms to form.

As June 1st marks the official start of Hurricane season, AccuWeather warns that ‘we can still see major hits across the United States.’

State Meeting Smiles..

This photo showcases a different era with the same superb Hochheim Prairie spirit and vision!

May 4th of 1992 was characterized by stripes, polka dots, floral, and everything in between. Wardrobes were bright and brilliant, just like the minds of those in attendance at this particular State Meeting. That year marked 100 years from the Company’s founding and the fine folks shown still held a love for Texas and spirit of service unlike any other – much like our current members as we know them all today! As the years have grown, the attire may have changed, but the mindset and common goal never has.
