📍Playa Esterillos
This is a seven mile stretch of beautiful beach located between the towns of Jacó and Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
THREE DISTINCT ZONES
Playa Esterillos is uniquely split into three distinct zones, each with its own defining personality and characteristics:
🌊 Esterillos Oeste (West): This section is highly popular due to its unique natural features. At the far north end, a rocky reef creates calm tide pools during low tide, making it a fun area to explore. This reef is also home to La Sirena, a famous bronze mermaid statue that sits out in the ocean and becomes visible as the water recedes.
🌊 Esterillos Centro (Center): A largely secluded and quiet stretch of beach lined with palm trees and a few local properties. It is ideal if you are looking to enjoy a peaceful beach walk with hardly anyone else in sight.
🌊 Esterillos Este (East): Known for its expansive, wide stretches of sand and high-quality, beachfront boutique hotels. It maintains a tranquil vibe but offers a touch more comfort and refined dining options.
The beach is widely recognized as a premiere year-round, surfing destination. Because it is open to heavy ocean energy, it produces powerful, consistent waves that appeal heavily to intermediate and advanced surfers.
Aside from surfing, the firm, flat sand creates excellent conditions for long beach walks, jogging, and wildlife watching. Because of its orientation, it is also highly regarded for its vibrant, unobstructed Pacific sunsets.
