We don’t know if you’ve heard, but 🎅 is carrying something a little extra in his bag this year, with a cold front set to drop air straight from the North Pole (yes, really!) into much of the lower 48.

To help you and your family prepare for frosted window panes (and potentially power lines), we’ve compiled a few helpful prep tips:

🥶 Stock the pantry … and not just with bread or milk. Try to stock your pantry with nonperishable food sure to keep if the power goes out.

🥶 If possible, try to salt your driveway and sidewalk before any precipitation hits. And keep in mind that nearly one million people are injured from falls on ice and snow each year, so always tread carefully when snow/ice hits!

🥶 If you use a space heater, never leave children/pets alone in a room with it, ensure it’s not damaged before turning it on, check your carbon monoxide monitors, and always turn it off before bed.

🥶 In temperatures 13 degrees to 31 degrees Fahrenheit, try to head indoors every 20 to 30 minutes. If the wind chill is 13 degrees or lower, your best bet is to stay inside.
