🚨 Public Safety Announcement – Statewide Burn Ban 🚨

The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide burn ban across North Carolina due to increased fire danger conditions.

🔥 What This Means:

All open burning is prohibited until further notice
This includes yard debris, brush piles, and any outdoor burning without proper containment
Campfires may also be restricted depending on conditions

🌬️ Why This Matters:
Dry weather, low humidity, and gusty winds have created high wildfire risk across our area. Even a small spark can quickly turn into a dangerous and uncontrollable fire, threatening homes, property, and lives.

👮‍♂️ Enforcement:
The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office will be working alongside local fire departments and state officials to ensure compliance. Violations of the burn ban may result in fines and legal action.

✅ How You Can Help:

Do not burn outdoors
Properly dispose of ci******es (never throw them from a vehicle)
Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911
