NAIFA Heartland’s Lunch With Legislators is a reminder of why this association matters.

Our members had direct, face-to-face time with Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, Kansas State Treasurer Steven Johnson, State Senator Scott Hill (District 24), State Senator Rick Wilborn (District 35), State Representative Barb Wasinger (District 111), and State Representative Steven Howe (District 71). We also appreciated the perspectives shared by Odalis Jimenez from U.S. Senator Roger Marshall’s office and Dawson Manning, representing U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01).

We also celebrated leadership as our 2026 officers were sworn in.

This is what NAIFA Heartland does best: we connect insurance and financial professionals who serve families every day, and we keep our members plugged into the relationships and conversations that shape our industry. If you are an insurance agent or financial advisor who wants stronger connections, sharper insight, and a statewide network that takes advocacy seriously, NAIFA Heartland is where you belong.

"Divorce would not really change my retirement."
That belief is more dangerous than it sounds.

Whether you are divorced, going through a divorce, or even considering one near retirement, your financial reality is about to shift..

Retirement assets are often divided. Your 401(k), IRA, or pension could be split through a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO), which may reduce future income if not properly planned for.

Tax status, income strategies, and healthcare costs change. Filing single vs. joint, Social Security claiming rules, and Medicare premium brackets may all be impacted.

Legacy planning and beneficiary designations need updates. Failing to adjust these could send assets to the wrong person or trigger unintended consequences.

📘 Our Divorcées Retirement Guide breaks down the 9 most common mistakes and how to avoid them.
