Frustrated with your premium prices lately? You may want to start watching the news more closely. The world is getting to be a smaller and smaller place, and what happens in one area is not just something you watch on the news, but something that might be affecting your wallet in a few months. All of our carriers (along with those in other countries) have similar options for reinsurance--and what they pay for reinsurance becomes part of our premium. Many of our carriers are in other parts of this country--and natural disasters or events that happen in other areas have claims that are paid out by our carriers and that becomes part of our premium. If those disasters are big enough, they affect reinsurance premiums, and then it is a double hit.
Today's news? The UAW strike. You have already been paying higher premiums for higher vehicle parts costs, higher costs to get the parts, delayed time to get the parts which results in higher rental costs (if you can find one), and higher cost to replace a totaled vehicle (if you can find one, and one that is comparable to what you will be paid for yours.) If you think the UAW strike is not going to affect you, you are mistaken. It will, and you are probably not going to like it.....
