Do the Least Favorite task first: Studies show that your hormones are optimized for maximum physical and mental productivity in the morning. So, if you’re like me, you can always dig deep for things you enjoy, but the least favorite tasks need my maximum productivity strength. Also, I personally “never get around to it” if I put off my least favorite.
Finish What You Started: The one touch approach is to focus on a singular task and work it to competition. Sure, this can’t always happen, but how many times have you been distracted and moved on to a different task that “will only take a minute” only to find yourself forgetting about the first one and/or not returning to it for days. This one takes serious discipline for me, but I’m always happy when I’m able to complete every step in a task while I’m working on it. For me, it helps alleviate a ton of future anxiety and practically speaking, it allows me to not do a task 10 times over. If you return to the same job two days later, often you have to remind yourself of what you were doing and where you were, which also wastes a TON of time.
Leave Room: This is my MUST DO to avoid burnout. I love being involved in my community, helping family and always expanding my business. With so many areas that can fill my days, I can easily not have any “room” or time to add something that comes up last minute or take a few extra minutes to talk or socialize if my schedule is jam packed. So I work very hard to “leave room” in my schedule and in my emotional tank to meet the unanticipated needs of those around me. This keeps me balanced and is so fulfilling to me, that I don’t ever want to stop being a person that my friends and family can call on for last minute needs.
