Medicare is sending new cards to about 1.3 million people to help protect against identity theft. If you are one of these people, you will receive a new card in the mail with a new Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI), which is the ID number on your Medicare card. New cards will be active starting April 14, 2026.

What you should do:
• Keep the new card if one arrives. Do not throw it away.
• Watch out for scams. When new Medicare cards have been mailed out in the past, some people received fraudulent calls asking them to provide their new ID number. As a general rule, never give your Medicare ID number to anyone you do not know.

Salem area (Marion County) residents--Salem Health is conducting Covid vaccine clinics at the State Fairgrounds. Updated dates and times are in this link. While the website indicates that only people in category 1a are being vaccinated, I'm hearing that anyone who shows up can get the vaccine!
