Meet our Community Giveback Employee of the Month, Leland Eckebrecht!🥳🙌

Leland, who works at our McNary Branch, has been stepping up in a big way to support our community, volunteering at events like the United Way Mid-Willamette Awesome 3000 and joining us when the Maps Community Foundation presented Punx WithPurpose with a $25,000 grant to purchase a much-needed vehicle (now affectionately known as Tiny).🙌

But Leland admits he wasn’t always so sure about volunteering. “Before I went to my first event, I was hesitant and wasn’t sure it would be worth the time and effort,” he says. “But after the first one, I was hooked. It feels so good to give back to our community, and every event is completely different. I never know what to expect, and that’s part of what makes them so enjoyable and why I keep going back.”

As this month’s honoree, Leland gets to direct a $100 donation to a nonprofit of his choice. After getting to know Punx with Purpose through his giveback work, he chose to send his donation their way.🤘

Congratulations, Leland! We love seeing the enthusiasm you bring to giving back. And, we have a feeling there are plenty more adventures ahead.😎🌟

If you ever wondered what working at a Maps branch sounds like… apparently this.😂 We’re definitely not saying anyone should quit their day job, but if the credit union career doesn’t work out, these Maps team members may have a future as Foley artists.🎤🤩

As local students get ready to head back to class, we’re getting back to one of our favorite things: supporting them along the way! 😉📚
This past Saturday, an awesome group of Maps volunteers spent the morning at the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, stuffing backpacks with school supplies to help students head into the new year feeling prepared and supported. 🎒✏️📓
Together, volunteers filled 1,600 backpacks, all of which were distributed free to local students in need.
Big thanks to everyone who gave up part of their Saturday to share their time and energy and help local kids start the school year on the right foot!💙

This National Nonprofit Day, we’re celebrating someone who spends every day championing the people who make our communities stronger: Kim Hanson, Executive Director of the Maps Community Foundation.💚👏

If you know her, you know that Kim has a remarkable gift for bringing people together. She listens, asks thoughtful questions, makes connections, and finds creative ways to help people and organizations doing good work make an even bigger impact.

Under her leadership, the Maps Community Foundation has continued to grow its reach throughout the communities we serve, but Kim’s impact goes far beyond grants and sponsorships. She is a cheerleader, connector, problem-solver, and tireless advocate for the nonprofit organizations and community leaders doing important work across our region.

So, today, we’re turning the spotlight on Kim and saying THANK YOU for the heart, energy, and expertise you bring to this vital work every day. You are an inspiration.🥹🫵🫶

Happy National Nonprofit Day, Kim!

🍩This month’s Donuts at the Dot looked a little different!🍩

We welcomed Caleb Roberts, Stakeholder Relations & Engagement Specialist for Salem-Keizer Public Schools, to talk with us about the many ways community members can get involved in our local schools. And, with the new school year beginning Sept. 8 and 9, it’s a great time to learn more about volunteering.🙌

Volunteers might spend their time helping in a classroom, chaperoning a field trip, pitching in at a book fair, being a reading buddy, or supporting a school event. There are plenty of ways to get involved, and you don’t have to be a parent to lend your time, talents, and energy. Salem-Keizer offers volunteer opportunities for different interests, schedules, and levels of commitment.

So, thank you, Caleb, for stopping by to share more about the volunteer program and some of the other ways the SKPS team is bringing people together to support local students and schools.💙

🎶You can dance, you can jive—and we’ve been having the time of our lives in Wilsonville!🎶🙌
Over the past few weeks, we’ve spent our Thursday evenings at the Wilsonville Rotary’s Concerts in the Park, meeting our neighbors, catching up with members, and getting to know this incredible community a little better.✨Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and making us feel so welcome. We’re grateful to be part of the Wilsonville community and look forward to many more summers together.💙
Thank you for the music!🕺
