Our office will be closed Friday January 23rd and will reopen Tuesday January 27th.

This will allow our office staff time. Due to the unexpected loss of Sharon and Eric's eldest son Tyler Zimmer.

Tyler Evan Zimmer, 38, of Frederick, Maryland, previously of Bloomington, Bedford, and Salem, Indiana, passed from his earthly home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on November 16, 1987, in Saint Matthews, Kentucky, he was the son of Sharon Crain Williams and Ronald E. Zimmer.

He married Sarah Elizabeth Daniels on June 6, 2009 in Bedford, Indiana. They had seven wonderful years together before welcoming their twins, Annie Elizabeth and Abram Evan, on August 15, 2016.

Tyler attended Bedford North Lawrence High School and later Salem High School, where he graduated in 2006. He was a graduate of Indiana University and most recently acquired his MBA from Aston University.

He worked for OneMain Financial for 15 years, where he was a highly respected District Manager for the state of Indiana. He recently was sought after to represent a company in Frederick, Maryland, which is where he resided with his wife and children for the past 18 months.

Tyler always said his greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a father to Annie and Abram. He took that role seriously and loved them fiercely. When he met Sarah in 2008, they became engaged after only one month of dating, knowing he had found his soul mate and love of his life. He was 21 and she was 19 when they married and had 16 and a half years together as loving partners. Before Annie and Abram were born, he and his wife were avid travelers, always excited to see and experience a new area in the states or the Caribbean. After their children were born, they continued to travel and give them those same adventures.

Tyler had a deep passion for the sport of wrestling, growing up and competing until high school graduation. He then passed his love for the sport down to Annie and Abram, and he was involved with coaching for Edgewood Wrestling Club, Bloomington South Wrestling Club, both in Indiana, and most recently, Urbana Wrestling Club in Frederick, Maryland.

Tyler had the ability to talk and make friends easily with others. He gave his time freely when anyone was in need and was always willing to be a shoulder to lean on or a person to talk with. Tyler had a radiant smile and the ability to light up any room he was in. He had a special place in his heart for dogs, having many throughout his life, his most recent being his beloved Bernedoodle, Bernie, Golden Retriever, Rooney, as well as their Shih Tzu, Molly, and he and Sarah’s first dog, a Yorkie named Myles.

He is survived by his wife and children, his mother, Sharon Crain Williams and stepfather, Eric Williams, his brother, Travis (Sarah) Bush and nephew Callum, stepbrothers Hunter and Walker Williams, his uncle, Jeff (Michelle) Crain, cousin Nicholas Capannelli, aunt Angela Lennon, cousin Elizabeth (Brian) Comer, his father and mother-in-law, Brett and Peggy Daniels, and sister-in-law Stephanie Simmons, nephews Braydon and Emmett. He had a special grandparent-like relationship with David and Janet Wells, who thought of him as one of their own. He is also survived by his father Ron Zimmer and paternal grandmother Jan Webster, as well as countless other close family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Betty Crain and paternal grandfathers Cliff Webster and Earl Zimmer.

A celebration of life will be held at Westview Christian Church, 2638 NW Washington School Road, Campbellsburg, Indiana on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10AM, following a service at 2PM. His final wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a 529 college savings plan for Annie and Abram. Details will be forthcoming.

Leaves are changing, mums are blooming, and pumpkin spice drinks are brewing. For many people this is the signal of Fall, however for us at ET Insurance Inc it is also a signal of open enrollment for Medicare. While the leaves are changing so too
are some factors of Medicare 2023. Rising medication cost, with promised solutions, positive changes in deductibles, premiums and anticipated expansion for those with lower incomes are some of the hot topics this season. We will discuss the pumpkin spice drinks later.

Rising costs of medications have been an ongoing issue. With the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act there is hope that more medication expenses will be reduced. For 2023, ten high-cost medications are in price negotiations. However, the negotiated prices are not scheduled to go into effect until 2025-2026. In future years the Inflation Reduction Act proposes that there will be more medication on the list for possible cost reduction.

On a positive note, several of the 2023 prescription drug and Medicare advantage plans are participating in the “insulin savings program”. Most of these plans have copays capped at $35 per month for several insulin brands. This is a huge cost savings for those managing diabetes. Unfortunately, the folks taking name brand blood thinners, inhalers, cancer medications, etc. may still be subject to the higher deductibles and copays. Most will generally lead them to the “donut hole or coverage gap” before year end. Part of the Inflation Reduction Act proposes a $2000 out of pocket cap for Medicare medications. But from what we have heard Medicare is two years away from that projected 2025 start date.

The Center for Medicare Services has made improvements to the cost of getting some vaccines. While flu and covid vaccines have been available at no cost to Medicare beneficiaries, the shingles vaccine will also be added to that list. Starting January 1, 2023 shingles vaccines will also carry a zero copay. Some have wondered
why the shingles vaccine has been billed at full price. Previously the shingles vaccine copay was filed through the part D (drug plan). With several of those plans having a large deductible, the payment was full price due to that hurdle. The thought is by offering these vaccines at zero copay it will eliminate any cost barriers that folks may have faced previously.

Except for those receiving Medicaid or extra help from the federal government, Center for Medicare Services has announced that the part B premium will be $164.90, a savings of $5.20 each month. The part B deductible is also going down to $226 for the 2023 calendar year. While that may be somewhat of a surprise, it is a welcomed
change after the 2021-2022 premium and deductible increase.

While some things are different, the “get all you deserve ads” and phone center calls are still coming. Medicare has been made aware of fraud and made some changes of their own, some of which affect independent agents. I would like to point out that independent Medicare agents make up less than 1% of all Medicare complaints. However as of October 1, 2022 all calls made, whether independent agents or call centers, regarding Medicare must be recorded and stored for 10 years.

While change is not always welcomed, sometimes it is deemed necessary. I think we would all agree that the leaves and mums are beautiful this season and maybe we should just stop and appreciate them. Pumpkin spice, in my mind, helps with the
appreciation of the season. However, I have reached my word count and that is another article altogether. ET Insurance Inc wishes the best for all Medicare beneficiaries that they do “get all they deserve” and feel more confident about the insurance choices they
have made for the upcoming year.

"Understanding Medicare and Take the Detour Away From Fraud“

Medicare is so confusing” is a statement that I hear several times a week. While that may be so, under-standing it may help guide you away from fraudulent activities. Most folks are getting several phone calls and advertisements mailed to them daily. You may have had the thought, “How could they be so gullible to fall for that line?” Well before you think it cannot happen, please consider the content of the rest of this article. Marketing organizations spend a lot of money trying to win the Medicare business, even hiring celebrities to peak the attention of Medicare beneficiaries. Recently a lot of the focus is around the part B premium give backs. They use slogans such as “learn how to save $148.50 per month,” and “get all the benefits you deserve.” While there are two ways to get a partial or total part B give back every month, the ads do not go on to explain that a full premium give back requires income and asset levels as well as applying to a state agency for that process. The insinuation is that in one phone call, it’s possible to “get you all you need.” Sometimes the goal of those advertisements is just to get a phone call started to change the plan you are currently on. As with any television advertisement the goal is sales. In most other years, Medicare calls start coming in August. For 2021 however, the calls and mailings have not stopped, Medicare enrollers have used new technology to find ways to pick up business. With Covid numbers on the rise, insurance companies have made it easier to enroll Medicare beneficiaries online or on the phone. The downside of that is, it also made it easier for those who would be willing to commit fraud for business. If you receive a phone call stating that they will “help with prescription costs,” require that they be specific about those costs. Ask for them to send you information so you can compare such savings. Generally speaking, if it is not a better deal for you, the phone enroller will not be willing to take the time to verify. A sales goal is to make the sale quickly, and if possible, in the current phone call. Don’t be rushed into buying a plan, know what you are buying. Medicare Advantage and Drug Plans ARE changing for 2022, Medicare clients will be receiving their Annual Notice of Change letters from their current insurance companies any day now. Once the letter comes, read it, and if you do not understand how the changes affect you talk to someone, a trusted friend or an insurance agent who has been trained in the 2022 plan changes. Be proactive, so you are not surprised by spending more money than needed in 2022. The opportunity to make such changes is between October 15 until December 7, 2021. Protect your Medicare number, as you would your social security or banking information. Medicare insurance agents do need the information to make plan changes. But you should feel a level of comfort that the agent or agency you are working with will protect this important information for you. Again, don’t be afraid to ask, it is much easier to detour fraud than to find yourself a victim. Most detours are not convenient and require more time to get where you are going. But in the case of Medicare, taking the time to know what route works best for you, is the best fraud deterrent.
