All this talk of 529s, but what happens if your brilliant child doesn't use all the saved 529 funds by the end of their educational journey? If there are unused assets left in the account, the funds may be withdrawn (with a penalty and subject to taxes), converted into a Roth IRA (subject to certain criteria and limits), or a new beneficiary can be designated. • Tuition
• Room and Board for students enrolled at least half-time
• School supplies, books, internet access, computers and fees
