Do you still need to explore 2026 health plans on the Virginia Insurance Marketplace? Luckily, there is still time! You may have heard the deadline is 12/15. That applies to the Federal Marketplace. For Virginia residents, the marketplace open enrollment goes through the end of December. However, I highly recommend wrapping up your decision before the Christmas holiday!

Timing: Open enrollment lasts through the month of December, although it is recommended that you choose a plan by mid-December.

Nathan is more than just a plumber; he's a dedicated second-generation craftsman and problem-solver. His journey to founding Mayday Plumbing uniquely combines technical skill and high-level IT expertise.

Nathan grew up with plumbing in his blood, starting with summer jobs at age 16 and working his way through college. Despite graduating from Roanoke College with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems—and holding impressive roles in legal IT at Gentry Locke and as a database administrator back at Roanoke College—Nathan never truly left the trade.

He continued to do plumbing work on evenings and weekends, driven by his passion for hands-on problem-solving. In 2018, he transitioned back to plumbing full-time, and in 2024, he and his wife launched Mayday Plumbing. Their goal was simple: to provide an honest, reliable plumbing service solution for homeowners in the area, merging Nathan’s dedication to detail with reliable ex*****on.

For Nathan, his work is deeply satisfying because it’s about helping people and problem-solving. Home service repair is rarely straightforward, which means every day is a chance to learn something new. Wondering how the government shutdown is affecting Open Enrollment? I just received an update from the Virginia Insurance Marketplace (VIM). Three key takeaways are listed below:

1) Insurance companies must send a letter to everyone who has a marketplace plan by 10/31/25. The rates in these letters assume the enhanced tax credits are expiring on December 31, 2025.
2) If Congress votes to extend the enhanced tax credits for 2026, you will receive an updated letter that will reflect the new rate for your 2026 premiums; and
3) If you wish to change your plan elections for 2026, you may do so between 11/1/25 - 12/31/25 for a January effective date. If you miss that deadline, you will be able to make changes in January for a 2/1/26 effective date.

Call me if you need some guidance. The premium rates are the same whether you use an agent or do it yourself.
