What does it mean to truly learn from culture? You listen, you participate, and you connect.

As a subsidiary of Seneca Holdings, CI Azumano / Business Travel recently participated in an immersion day focused on learning, connection, and Seneca culture.

The team learned from Seneca Nation members Veronica Reitter and Steph Stafford explored the teachings behind cornhusk dolls, and spent time with the Little Miss Senecas — a Seneca-run community program where mothers, aunties, and grandmothers help young Seneca girls connect with their culture, traditions, and community while growing into confident young Indigenous women.

The girls introduced themselves in the Seneca language, shared the Indigenous women who inspire them and their hopes for the future, and taught the group Esgä:nye:’ (Women’s Shuffle), a dance expressing gratitude and giving thanks for Mother Earth and Creation.

The day ended with CI Azumano presenting the Little Miss Senecas with a $1,000 donation to support the program and the opportunities it provides.

We’re proud to see culture, education, leadership, and community come together in such a meaningful way. 💙

✨ Intern Yadira Rivera in Washington, D.C., Trip 2 ✨

We wrapped up our trip to D.C. last week and officially closed out our summer internships with Seneca Holdings.

On our last day, we visited the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) before touring the U.S. Capitol. Later, we visited the Native American Contractors Association (NACA). During both visits, we had the opportunity to hear from Native professionals about their work and ask questions about their careers. Listening to them talk about advocating for Native communities reminded me that there are so many different ways to make a difference.

I'm so thankful for this experience and for everyone at Seneca Holdings who made this summer so memorable. Thank you!

✨ Intern Yadira Rivera in Washington, D.C., Trip 2 ✨

Day 3 was all about celebrating everything we’ve worked on this summer!

We started the day by presenting our group business projects and our individual Seneca Holdings profiles. It was an exciting opportunity to share what we’ve learned throughout our internships.

After our presentations, we explored the International Spy Museum before ending the day with dinner aboard a boat cruise, where we had the chance to connect with even more Seneca Holdings employees from the D.C. area.

It was a day I’ll definitely remember!

✨ Intern Yadira Rivera in Washington, D.C., Trip 2 ✨

Day 2 was a great mix of preparing and exploring!

We started the morning by practicing our group project presentations and sharing our individual profiles, where we talked about ourselves and reflected on our internship experiences. Afterward, we visited the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and explored everything from dinosaur fossils to gems and minerals. We wrapped up the day with a visit to the Washington Monument and enjoyed taking in the views around D.C.
