Having a child hasn’t made me want to do less, it’s made me want to do more.

This morning, my husband woke up sick, so Porter came with me to his first Rotary Club of St. Petersburg, FL board meeting. As I watched him walk around the room, I thought about the example I want him to see: building a business, serving the community, and contributing to something bigger than yourself.

Motherhood may mean missed meetings and changed plans, but I don’t want it to make my world smaller. I want it to make my purpose bigger.

If Porter grows up believing that showing up, building something meaningful, and serving others are simply part of life, I’ll consider that a job well done.

Things I didn’t know when I became a financial advisor…

I knew I’d learn a lot about investments, retirement, taxes and estate planning.

I didn’t realize how much I’d learn about people.

I didn’t know I’d be one of the first calls after a diagnosis, a death, a divorce, a job change, a business sale - or really wonderful news someone has been working toward for years.

I didn’t know I’d spend so much time thinking about clients outside of our meetings. Running through a problem on the drive home. Seeing something and immediately thinking of someone. Remembering the big things happening in their families and their lives.

I didn’t know how often the best outcome of a meeting would have very little to do with investment performance. Sometimes it’s helping someone realize they can retire. Help their kids. Take the trip. Spend a little more. Stop putting something off for “someday.”

There’s a lot of technical knowledge behind this job. But there’s also a very human responsibility that comes with being trusted with the details of someone’s life.

After all this time, that part still isn’t lost on me.

And it’s easily my favorite part of what I do.

Did you know Raymond James and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been partners for 28 years? It’s the one of the longest sports partnership in history, and one of the cooler parts of working for a firm with such deep roots in Tampa Bay. 🏴‍☠️

Last night was our annual Meet the Coach dinner at Raymond James Stadium, and it’s always one of my favorite events.

We heard from Coach Bowles and linebacker Alex Anzalone, but what I love about this night is that the conversation goes well beyond football. You get to hear more about who they are, how they lead, the personalities in the locker room, and the culture they’re building. It’s casual, candid and usually comes with some pretty good laughs.

I think that’s probably why I enjoy it so much. I spend a lot of my days getting to know the people behind the numbers, too. The numbers are important, but they’re never the whole story. Getting to know the person, what matters to them, how they make decisions and what they’re working toward - that’s the part that actually makes the numbers mean something.

Really fun night and a cool way to experience a different side of the team.. 🏈

✨Financial Myth Monday✨

MYTH: The best financial decision is the one with the highest expected return.

TRUTH: Sometimes flexibility, taxes, liquidity, or reducing risk is worth more than squeezing out another percentage point.

Not every decision needs to be optimized for the highest possible return.

Sometimes the better choice is the one that gives you more options, reduces a risk you don't need to take, or simply makes the rest of your financial life work better.

Your money isn't a math problem to solve in isolation.

The goal isn't always to maximize.

Sometimes, it's to create more choices.

Let me guess…

You’re making more money than you ever have, but your finances somehow feel more complicated.

Investments in a few different places.
An old 401(k) you’ve been meaning to deal with.
An estate plan that could probably use an update.
A CPA telling you one thing.
An attorney telling you another.
And at least one late-night Google search about whether you should be doing a backdoor Roth. 😂

You’re doing well. You’ve built a lot.

You just want to know all the pieces are actually working together.

Hi. We should probably know each other.

Did you know 55% of younger high-net-worth investors surveyed have made an investment decision because of FOMO?

Turns out, having more money doesn't make us any less human.

There's always going to be something that's hard to ignore.

A stock everyone seems to be making money on.
The investment your friend can't stop talking about.
A market that's running and feels impossible not to chase.
The next "can't miss" opportunity.

And having a financial plan doesn't mean you can never take a chance on something you're excited about.

It means understanding how much risk you can afford to take without putting the bigger picture at risk.

Sometimes one of the most valuable things a financial advisor can provide is perspective:

If this works, great. But if it doesn't, does it change anything that matters?

That's a much better question than, "What if I miss out?"

Months of planning, and just like that… another Strike for Parc is in the books. 🎳❤️

And this one was a BIG one.

Our committee raised more money for Parc Center for Disabilities this year than we did the last two years combined. Safe to say it was a success.

But my favorite part will always be the people.
The smiles on the faces of our friends at Parc.
Seeing our community show up in such a huge way. Watching a bowling alley absolutely packed with people supporting an organization we love. And getting a very special visit from Tyler White of Love on the Spectrum!

I’m so proud of our committee and what we built together this year.

There are a million things competing for our time, and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend some of mine doing this.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. ❤️

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Strike for Parc so special.

✨Financial Myth Monday✨

MYTH: "Being good with money means spending less."

TRUTH: Sometimes good planning gives you permission to spend more.

These are honestly some of my favorite conversations with clients.

After spending years being responsible with money, saving for the future, and building wealth, it can be surprisingly hard to switch gears and actually enjoy it.

Take the trip.

Help your kids.

Make the memories.

Do the thing you've been saying "someday" to for years.

Sometimes my job isn't to tell a client they need to save more.

It's to say:

"You've planned for this. You can afford it. Go enjoy it."

Because building wealth matters.

But so does enjoying the life you built it for.

There’s something special about what happens when a room full of women - from all walks of life, industries, and experiences - comes together with the intention of connecting with and uplifting one another.

Last week’s Amplify Women Tampa Bay Summit was exactly that.

I’ve been attending this event since the beginning, and it really does get better every year. This year’s theme, Navigators of Change: Women at the Helm, brought together a lot of thoughtful conversations, familiar faces, and new connections.

A big part of what makes this event so special is Nicole Waters. Nicole truly has never met a stranger. She brings so much energy and heart to the people around her, and you can see that reflected in the community she’s built.

I’m grateful to have been part of it again this year and to spend a day surrounded by women genuinely rooting for one another.

Looking forward to what's next. 💛

You know what’s kind of chic? Knowing your money. ✨

Having a financial plan you actually understand.

Knowing where your money is going.
Knowing what you own.
Building wealth and having a life worth funding.
Planning for the future while you’re very much still surviving the present. 😅
And yes, enjoying your money without feeling guilty about it.

Because being financially savvy isn’t about making money the center of your life.

It’s about using your money intentionally to support the life you actually want to live.

And personally? I think financial confidence looks pretty good on you. 💁‍♀️
