This is pretty big news for the Affordable Care Act plans. Previously if an employee was offered group coverage, in most cases it disqualified the family from being eligible for subsidies through the marketplace. In 2023, that’s changing and if coverage for the family is deemed unaffordable, the family may now qualify for subsidies. Subsidies will still be based on household size and income but this means more affordable options for many families!
