BankCherokee

BankCherokee BankLocal. BankBetter. BankCherokee. At BankCherokee, we succeed by helping our customers succeed.

In an era when consolidations and mergers of banks are the rule, BankCherokee and the Gesell family continues its long tradition as an independent, family-owned and operated bank. This cherished tradition ensures that BankCherokee is able to respond to the unique needs of the communities it serves with a high level of service and personal attention. We are proud to be values driven, relationship f

ocused, family oriented, and community engaged. Andy Gesell, a third-generation community banker, leads BankCherokee and serves as the bank’s CEO.

Old tax returns. Outdated paperwork. Mystery file folders from 2012. 👀

Bring them to BankCherokee’s annual Shred with Purpose event on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at our Smith Avenue branch.

This free, drive-through event helps you safely dispose of confidential documents while supporting neighbors facing food insecurity right here in our community.

We’re partnering with Shred Right for secure shredding and FINNEGANS Reverse Food Truck to collect food and cash donations benefiting The Food Group and local food shelves.

Here’s how it works:
📄 Bring up to 3 grocery bags or file boxes of documents you no longer need
🚗 Drive through and watch your papers get securely shredded
🥫 Donate non-perishable food items or cash if you’re able

A little decluttering can go a long way. We hope to see you there!

Imposter scams are on the rise nationwide, and they don’t always look like scams at first. Fraudsters often pretend to be trusted organizations—using familiar phone numbers and urgent messages to catch people off guard.

We put together a practical guide to help you spot the red flags and know what to do if something feels off. A little awareness can go a long way in protecting yourself.

15 years of dedication, leadership, and teamwork 👏 Congratulations to our Chief Credit Officer, Chris Anderson, on his recent 15-year anniversary with BankCherokee!

From starting with BankCherokee as a Credit Analyst II to stepping into his current role as Chief Credit Officer in 2023, Chris’s journey is a true reflection of growth, expertise, and commitment. Along the way, he’s taken on key leadership roles across credit, appraisal, environmental review, and community reinvestment, bringing clarity and a collaborative spirit to everything he does.

Chris says what he loves most about BankCherokee is the feeling of family and we couldn’t agree more. His ability to lead with both skill and heart helps make that culture real for all of us.

Thank you, Chris, for 15 years of making our team stronger and our community better.

When a longtime nonprofit client needed funding fast, the BankCherokee team picked up the phone and got to work.

SVP Commercial Lender Julie Novak partnered closely with their team to structure a $2 million bridge loan, helping keep a major capital campaign and construction project moving forward while awaiting state funding.

From brainstorming a collateral strategy to coordinating across our credit and operations teams, this was a true all-hands effort built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to the community.

As our client put it: having a banking partner you can call directly makes all the difference. We couldn’t agree more 🧡
