Minnesota Housing

Minnesota Housing For 50 years, we’ve invested in safe, decent and affordable housing and strong communities. Minnesota Housing is the state’s housing finance agency.

We finance housing that low and moderate-income Minnesotans can afford while helping Minnesotans buy and fix up their homes. Along with fostering strong communities, we provide resources to stabilize neighborhoods, communities and families. We work cooperatively with others to support the development and preservation of affordable rental housing. For more than 50 years, we’ve worked to provide acc

ess to safe, decent and affordable housing and to build stronger communities across the state. In 2024, we distributed $1.96 billion in resources and served 73,650 households. Social Media

Can you guess where housing is the most affordable in Minnesota?

It’s cheaper to live in greater Minnesota, according to data from the state Department of Employment and Economic Development, but some areas of the state are cheaper than others.

It’s been almost a year since the June 21, 2025 storms hit the Leech Lake area, and the repair work continues. If you’re a member or descendent of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and your home was damaged, you can apply for state funds for necessary repairs not covered by private insurance, FEMA and SBA.

If you haven’t submitted a claim to private insurance, FEMA or SBA yet, there’s still time. Our website contains contact information to get you started: mnhousing.gov/DRLP

We're pretty excited about Prairie Pointe in Shakopee. It's the *first* supportive housing development to open in Scott County! Plus, 13 units are among the first in the state to utilize our "Bring It Home" rental assistance vouchers. (More on that here: https://mnhousing.gov/home/local-government/bring-it-home)

Prairie Pointe offers affordable homes for families and individuals, including some who earn less than $35,000 per year. On Affordable Housing Week, and any week, that's a big win. Congratulations to all of the partners involved in its opening!

Northern Minnesota! We are thinking of those impacted by the Crow Wing and Lake County wildfires. ❤️ County staff are working hard to assess damage and coordinate a response, but we know it's never fast enough for the people affected.

The county board extended its local emergency for the Flanders fire and is working to assess the cost of damages. The investigation continues into who is responsible for causing the blaze, which is now fully contained.

After cost increases due to COVID-19 — and tons of problem solving by the developer and staff to manage that — construction of Rogers Senior Living and Senior Center is finally underway!

Located right on Main Street in Rogers, MN, with access to an onsite Senior Center on the first floor, this will be a place for seniors to thrive. We're so grateful to our partners in this work, including Shannon Klick (mayor of City of Rogers, MN - Government), Kevin Anderson (Hennepin County Government commissioner), Miller Architects and Builders and Duffy Development.
