I get asked these questions all the time, so here are a few quick answers that may help

Do I need to sign up for Medicare if I'm still working?
Maybe! It depends on you employer's size and your current coverage. This is one of the most important questions to get right.

Is Medicare free at age 65?
Medicare Part A is usually premium-free, but other parts may have monthly costs.

What's the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
They offer coverage in different ways, with different costs, networks and benefits.

Will Medicare cover my prescriptions?
Original Medicare does not, but Part D or Medicare Advantage plans can help.

Let's set the record straight! There are two big myths about Medicare that catch a lot of people off guard as the approach 65.

Myth #1: "Medicare is free"
While Part A is premium free for most, Part B comes with a monthly premium ($202.90 a month in 2026), and there are still deductibles and co-pays to think about.

Myth #2: "It covers everything"
Standard Medicare actually has some pretty big gaps. Things like routine dental, vision and hearing usually aren't covered without specific extra plans.

The good news? If you start planning early: ideally around age 60, you can avoid these surprises and build a strategy that actually fits your budget and lifestyle.
