For the 8th year in a row, we're pleased to announce we’re now accepting applications for the Adair County Cattlemen's Heifer Program! This program continues to help youth establish or expand their cow herd and invests in the future of the local beef industry. 1 lucky youth will be selected to receive $7,000 to put towards the purchase of 2 bred heifers of their breed of choice.

Program details:
➡️ Must be in 7th, 8th, or 9th grade

➡️ Demonstrate their interest in beef production and commitment to the project

➡️ Participate in an in-person interview

➡️ Applications accepted until Wednesday, October 8th at 4 PM

📉 U.S. Cattle Herd Falls to Lowest July 1 Inventory on Record 📉

The July 1 U.S. cattle inventory for 2025 totaled 94.2 million head, marking the lowest mid-year inventory on record. This figure is down 1.2 million head from 95.4 million in 2023 and down a sharp 8 million head from 2020, when the inventory stood at 102.2 million. (Data only goes back until 1973...)
