WESTERN RAIN & FLOOD RISK SUNDAY🌧️⚠️Sunday is shaping up to be an unusually wet day across parts of the West, with rain and thunderstorms stretching from California and Arizona north through Nevada and Utah into Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.

The WPC has a broad risk or excessive rainfall and flooding across much of the region, with an elevated risk from southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona into southern and central Utah, where scattered flash flooding is possible.

Hurricane Marie will remain well offshore, but its deep tropical moisture will be pulled north and northeast across Southern California, the Mojave Desert, Nevada and Utah. Rain will spread across parts of Southern California Sunday, becoming heavier and more widespread farther inland. The greatest concern will be from southern Nevada-northwestern Arizona into Utah, where locally heavy rain could quickly flood washes, slot canyons, burn scars and other vulnerable terrain.

Farther north, a slow-moving upper low will produce another area of widespread showers and thunderstorms across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Locally heavy rain is possible, particularly near the mountains and recent burn scars. Parts of the northern Rockies could receive a significant soaking through early next week.

Rain and thunderstorms will also increase across Wyoming and Colorado, while parts of Arizona and New Mexico see scattered storms capable of locally heavy rain. If you have outdoor plans for the holiday weekend, be prepared to move indoors if storms approach🌧️⚠️
