🔒 Current Scams TO Be Aware Of 🔒
🔒Don't Fall for Fake Microsoft Pop-Up Scam
Have you ever seen a pop-up claiming your computer has a virus or has been locked? It may even blast alarms or tell you to call "Microsoft Support."
It's a scam.
These fake alerts are designed to create panic and trick you into giving scammers remote access to your computer or personal information.
🔒Don't be Fooled by Fake Dunkin' Gift Card Scams
Have you been sent a link claiming that you could have a chance to win a $200 gift card to Dunkin'? The link may have even been sent by a friend or family member.
This is also a scam.
These 'too good to be true' links are sent to encourage the receiver to engage with the link and 'receive rewards' only after sending the same link to multiple people and entering personal information.
🔒 Protect yourself:
• Never call the phone number displayed in a pop-up
• Never give anyone remote access to your computer.
• Remember: Microsoft does not display pop-ups with phone numbers asking you to call for support.
• Don't click on the alert.
• Don't click on the link
• Remember: if it's too good to be true, it's probably not true
• Don't enter personal or financial information into any site you are unsure of
If you think you've encountered one of these scams, close your browser if possible or restart your computer. If you provided personal or financial information, contact your credit union immediately.
