We are still in the thick of earnings. Home Depot announced lower earnings guidance which is a sign of the slowdown in the economy, especially in the housing market. Target and Walmart will announce earnings in the next two days and we will see if consumer discretionary spending is cutting back. Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a hot topic especially with Congress right now. Then we have the US debt ceiling which is still being debated by both sides of Congress and finally we have the Federal Reserve bank which may have paused it's interest rate hike campaign since it met it's 2023 target of 5.0% - 5.25% Fed Discount Rate. Semiconductors are starting to show signs of leadership in the stock market again. Treasury Rates have fallen a smidge since the last hike with the 3 month Treasury being the best yielding bill at 5.2%. Keep your seat belts on...
