Thursday evening flash freeze timing.

We are still monitoring for a flash freeze event tomorrow evening (Thursday PM). After a rainy Thursday afternoon, cold air rushes in and will freeze any surfaces that are wet. This map communicates the approximate timing of when temperatures fall below 32°F.

Two things to note:

1. Severe weather in the form of 60mph winds may become a concern during the afternoon Tomorrow. Another map will be posted this afternoon regarding that.

2. Gusty winds between 40-50mph will exist throughout Thursday. This could lead to power outages, but it also may HELP by drying wet surfaces quickly before temperatures fall below freezing. This would be the best case scenario.

Expect a wind gust map and severe weather outlook to be posted through the afternoon today. Plan at very least for isolated slick spots late Thursday PM into the Friday AM commute.
