Leaves, leaves, leaves. This weekend, I've been spending time on the leaves in my turkey painting. "Back in the day," I remember the Sunday comics having a "spot the difference" feature. It was always fun to search for them. Can you see the differences in the leaves here? At first blush, they probably look like the same picture. But look closely, and you'll see additional layers creating shadows, highlights and color differentiation.

The brook trout painting I recently finished was entered in the 2027 MN DNR Trout Stamp contest. As you can see here (if you zoom in), I place third. This means I can enter the contest again next year! (If you win, you have to take two years off 🤓.)

Do you know what kind of tree this is? I recall such a tree in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Rushford when I was growing up. The seeds look like finished wood products - note the "grain" on them.
My understanding is these seeds aren't ok for human consumption...but the deer really like them! I'm planning to propagate some "baby trees" from these seeds.
