Discussing the pain of a child is never an easy task to bear. Kosmic Kraze has one special love that we hold dear to our hearts. We have chosen to let the words of her Mother touch your hearts the way that they have ours.
“What a journey it has been. One of the biggest hopes as a parent is that you hear the news your baby is healthy. Unfortunately, that was not the case for Oakley. At only 20 weeks pregnant we were told Oakley will need open heart surgery and likely more than one. Oakley is now 6 years old and has gone through two heart surgeries, one at 6 weeks and one at 2 years old. From various surgeries to heart caths, doctor’s appointments, ultrasounds, MRIs, x-rays, and blood work over the years we have learned that this is not an easy journey. However, Oakley has truly changed us…Her strength inspires us to be better people every single day. We have recently been faced with the news that Oakley’s heart cannot be repaired. She is currently in heart failure and the cardiatric surgeons feel surgery would be too risky. With that being said she is now in the process of being listed for a heart transplant. Once listed, Oakley will be admitted to Dell Children’s Hospital where she will wait for a heart… Dell Children’s said she will potentially live there for 6 months (or longer) waiting on a donor. This news has been extremely difficult for us to process- it all feels so surreal. Without a heart transplant Oakley would have roughly 2-4 years left with us. It’s so hard to believe this is where we are at with Oakley’s journey but with faith, prayers, and all of the love and support around us- I know we will get through this. She is our beautiful baby girl that lights up every room she steps into. She goes through life with such grace and we see Jesus through her every day. Our family can’t thank you enough for supporting Oakley during this time. We are forever grateful and know Oaks is so incredibly loved.” -Kennidi Rue Werley
