A lot of ministry leaders are good at leading people, but never got much training on the financial side of the work. That gap is real, and it costs churches.

The ChurchBiz Executive Leader Cohort is an 8-week virtual cohort starting September 29th. We cover budgeting, HR compliance, reading financials, organizational health, and communication strategy. Sessions are on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM, recorded if you miss one, and hosted on the ChurchBiz Hub.

Every teacher has worked directly in a church and a nonprofit ministry.

Cost is $500 per person. Existing ChurchBiz clients can add it to their monthly invoice.

If it sounds like a fit, you can register at the link below.

Ministers are not automatically exempt from Social Security. They pay it through SECA, not F**A, like other employees.

The exemption exists, but it requires actively opting out by filing Form 4361 on religious or conscientious grounds. It is permanent and irrevocable, so it is not a decision to make lightly.
Many ministers assume the exemption applies to them by default. It doesn't.

Registration fees and charitable donations are not the same thing. But many churches are recording them as they are, which creates real problems for the books and donors at tax time.

Our latest blog explains how to keep them separated and why it matters.

Ministers carry a tax burden unlike any other employee. Most churches and pastors don't fully understand it until something goes wrong.

Our Minister Tax Guide is a free resource that covers everything in one place: a video overview, a downloadable PDF, a podcast episode, and a library of articles on dual tax status, housing allowance, SECA obligations, and IRS compliance. Whether you're setting up payroll for a new hire or reviewing what your church already has in place, it's a practical starting point.
