Many people this time of year travel to Florida for a vacation and usually rent a car. When you rent a car. They ask to see if you want to put insurance on the rental which can be very expensive. Here are 3 take aways on how to use your own personal insurance that will cover the rental vehicle that you are driving and will save you $$$.
- Make sure you have extra expense on your policy. Which is car rental extra expense. Most rentals right now are between $50-$100/day depending on what vehicle you acquire. If you get into an accident. This will pay for the days the car is not being used while being serviced for repairs.
- Rental Gap Coverage - This provides coverage if you were to get into an accident. The rental company will decide whether to keep the vehicle or to sell the vehicle. This provides the difference in market value or diminished market value to the vehicle if the company were to sell it. This coverage would pay the difference if it was at its current market value.
-Last thing is to make sure that you have a Comprehensive and Collision deductible on your policy. These deductibles will carry over to rental car coverages as well.
I hope this helps! If you ever need any help with insurance or insurance questions. I am always happy to help. Thanks for checking in!
