July 15th is “National Pet Fire Safety Day”. For many of us, pets are family and a major part of our lives. So it is important to know how to keep them safe incase of a fire.

Some tips are:
• Keep pets near entrances- When leaving pets home alone, keep them in areas that could be easily accessed by firefighters.
• Practice escape routes- Keep collars and leashes in a place that is easy to get to incase you need to evacuate quickly.
• Affix a pet alert window cling- Write down the number of pets you have in the home and place it on a window that is in the front of the home.
• Pet proof the home- Take a walk around the home and look for areas that pets could potentially start a fire, such as the stove k***s, loose wires, and other potential hazards.
