Greetings Facebook Fam👋. I haven't posted in a while for a couple of reasons, and I really missed interacting with a lot of you and I am looking forward to catching up.
The first reason is that there is just too much negativity on these social platforms, and I don't want to be around negativity, my energy is too sacred, and my family needs me to be fun and caring, not sad and fearful. After doing some research, I figured out how to turn off notifications so I could be present with my family and reset my algorithm to show me the good stuff, and now it feels good to be back online💻 on my own terms.
The other reason is because I have been building something special behind the scenes🎬. You may or may not know that I moved back home to the Sacramento area about 5 years ago to take care of my dad full time when he developed ALS 🥲. Since then, I attempted to use the tech, marketing, and people skills I gained from my Las Vegas experiences to start a nonprofit to mentor foster youth in tech skills and business. After A LOT of research, hiring a nonprofit coach, and developing relationships, I realized I would be more successful helping other nonprofits that have similar missions instead of starting a new one.
So, I created Get Your Brand Up, a purpose driven marketing and branding organization that builds brands in a fun way while making a difference in the community at the same time. We help nonprofits to partner with local and national brands to create outside the box marketing campaigns that have a charitable mission and that are powered by people from underserved areas.
While I knew this idea was a game changer, I also knew that I needed social proof, connections, and money to get it going while still being able to take care of my family. So, I decided to get a job and save up until I could go back to being a full-time entrepreneur. I had built my own CRM, hotel booking platform, and automated communications system for my Las Vegas company from scratch because I have always been a tech nerd since I was a kid. So, I decided to put those skills on paper and become a certified CRM and marketing expert, and then use the certification to get a high paying job.
What happened next was a gift from my creator and I know now it was meant to be. The very first job interview I had after getting my Salesforce Admins certification and hooking up my LinkedIn profile was at Summit Funding, Inc. to be their CRM expert for their marketing department. They hired me on the spot to train their loan officers to use their mortgage CRM, manage a project to build a custom recruiting system, and manage another project to build a call center CRM from scratch. I loved my job, and I loved the team I worked with. I learned all about Real Estate, mortgages, credit, finance, compliance, and many other cool things that they should teach us in school, but they don't🙃.
I got a chance to travel with the marketing team to our loan officer retreat in Denver, and while I was there, I realized that these loan officers I was training were happy, they spent lots of time with their families, and they made really good money. Like, enough money to be very philanthropic, build wealth, and go on life changing vacations. So, I requested to join the beta program for what is now called Loan Officer University, and I was coached by some of the greatest loan officers to ever do it.
After a couple of years learning from and contributing to one the greatest world class marketing teams in America, I officially switched from tech guy to mortgage loan originator, which is a fancy way of saying that I help people get loans to buy houses and pull money out of their equity when they need it.
Now, 5 years later, I am a licensed mortgage loan consultant working with an amazing team at our Roseville office, I sit on the board of directors at the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento, and I am working on multiple philanthropic projects that I will announce as they come to fruition.
