Bail is an insurance product. I insure the courts by posting your bond that you’ll return for court appearances. I post the total amount and you pay me 10%, in some situations I’m allowed to charge 8%. Now if you don’t appear often times I can get that fixed with what’s called a “resumption of liability”. If for some reason you don’t show up for court and don’t talk to me about about it, that’s when I’ve gotta find you and return you to custody.
