Fall brings more deer activity across North Carolina, especially from October through December. Keep an eye out on your everyday drive, even close to home.

North Carolina Department of Transportation recommends slowing down in wooded areas and near deer crossing signs, particularly in the late afternoon and evening. Leave plenty of room behind the vehicle ahead, and remember: if you spot one deer, others may follow.

If a deer enters your path, don’t swerve. Losing control could lead to a more serious crash.

Stay alert, take your time, and get home safely this fall.
