A member thought she was buying a car. The “seller” stayed on the phone with her the entire time — even while she withdrew the cash for a wire transfer.

By the time she realized it was fake, the money was gone.

Scammers do this to keep you from thinking clearly or asking for help.

Rome Federal Tip: Never wire money or withdraw cash for someone you don’t personally know.

If something feels off, step away and call us.
