I had coffee with Anna Jones today! She was president of then-called 'Northwest Arkansas Association of Licensed Professional Counselors' way back in 1999 when I joined. She was licensed in 1988 and retired in 2021. Today she remarked that the best thing about this organization is "the comradery", the fellowship, traveling together to conferences, attending trainings together, brainstorming and supporting each other thru tough times. In fact, she cherishes the relationships she had built over the years, so much that she has challenged me to put together a reunion of sorts, of all the "old timers". So help me get the word out...! More memories ahead!!!

Here's a fun fact: The first three digits (727) of our zip code designate a major postal region in northwest Arkansas centered around Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville, covering Benton, Washington, Carroll, and Madison Counties in Arkansas.

Analyzing data from ArBOEC, this is what I found: there are (estimated) 882 LAC/LAMFT/LPC/LMFT& Supervisors in our four county area. (Based on EMPLOYER zipcodes indicated on license.)

72701-01 Fayetteville 282
72712-13 Bentonville 152
72714-15 Bella Vista 12
72716 Bentonville/Berryville 3
72717 Cane Hill 1
72718 Cave Springs 5
72719 Centerton 8
72727 Elkins 1
72730 Farmington 12
72734 Gentry 1
72736 Gravette 1
72740 Huntsville 5
72745 Lowell 4
72749 Morrow 1
72751 Pea Ridge 4
72753 Prairie Grove 1
72756-58 Rogers 161
72761 Siloam Springs 44
72762-66 Springdale 183
72774 West Fork 1

P.S., I asked the Board, when I search for a counselor's license, someone I know who works in Siloam Springs, but their file says "New York City" (No, its not picante sauce)...

I was told that the Board Search lists "where you are employed", not where you live. . And if you want your file to indicate the community you serve, you can go into your file and update this info.

Brief Synopsis: Counseling theory is an important part of our work. In fact, we are ethically mandated to use a counseling theory with our clients. In our time together, I will offer some insights about effective ways to integrate counseling theories to ensure we are ethical and effective when working with our clients. I will share my integrative counseling theory approach as an example which starts with an Adlerian approach. Our time will include discussion with the hopes you are able to take this material and directly apply it to your clinical practice.

Dr. Ryan Cowell is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in the state of Arkansas and a PhD in counselor education and supervision. He completed a masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Mental Health. He currently works with clients through a Family Systems lens and an Adlerian therapy approach. He specializes in working with trauma and marriages. Before Joining Liberty University faculty, Dr. Cowell worked as an Assistant Professor and Executive Clinical Director.
