Clients, we recently sent an update to help you prepare for the Marketplace Open Enrollment.
Unlike previous years, there will be no Passive Renewals. We will need to update your application to include your 2026 income to determine if you qualify for Premium Tax Credits, which provide a subsidy for premium payments. What is going to help us is for you to be prepared for the appointment,by having proof of your income that has an annual amount, which can be one of the following:
Begin gathering income documentation, such as recent pay stubs, W-2s, 1099s, or prior-year tax returns — especially if you’re a freelancer, gig worker, or self-employed contractor with variable income.
Income is counted for you, your spouse, and everyone you'll claim as a tax dependent on your federal tax return (if the dependents are required to file. Include their income even if they don't need health coverage.
The minimum income requiring a dependent to file a federal tax return. 2024 filing requirements for dependents under 65: Earned income of at least $14,600, or unearned income (like from investments or trusts) of at least $1,300. You must include on your Marketplace application income for any dependent required to file.

The Marketplace Counts estimated income of ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS.
Alimony from divorces and separations finalized BEFORE Jan 1, 2019.

Exclude (untaxed) foreign income
Federal taxable wages (from your job)
Investment income
Rental and royalty income
Retirement or pension income
self-employment income (Include the income you expect to make from your business after expenses. You'll also need to describe the type of work you do. If you earn money from farming or fishing, just list it as either 'farming or fishing' income or 'self-employment' income, but not both.)

Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)

Open Enrollment starts November 1, 2025, through December 15, 2025, for January 1, 2026, effective dates.
Any enrollments that started on December 16th and continue through January 15 will begin on February 1, 2026.
