Not that any of us would agree, but insurance costs for autos and homes in CA continue to under priced. Today's premiums are the new norm, which many still refuse to accept. Shopping for rates is pretty much extinct. Almsot all "new" business is for those without insurance. If you find yourself being non-renewed or closing on a new purchase, visit us for options!

What is Orion180 and their "Flex Homeowners" policy all about?

Many think it's a solution for the CA Fair Plan. Having this product available for a month now, I have a few thoughts.

It's another option on the Surplus Lines market (non-admitted)!

Flex means you can have Significant and Different deductilbes (lower premium) for fire coverage vs other covered losses.

Optional "co-pay" on top of your deductilbe.

Flex meaning you can select just fire coverage and keep your DIC.

Biggest draw back I've seen, is their limited water coverage. Most will be at $10,000 in coverage, or policy max of $70,000 if you elect to enroll in their Automatic Water Shut-Off Device or have a newer home.

Home with over 10 acres no eligible.

If you have a newer home, updated plumbing, or not concerned with having much water coverage - Orion180 might just be your solution to the CA Fair Plan....

The CA Fair Plan is asking for a 36% to begin April 2026 - should they be allowed to continue with their rate increases or should the California Department of Insurance (CDI) fix the preferred carrier market first?

The California FAIR Plan Assn., which covers homeowners denied insurance, is seeking a 35.8% rate increase, though some policyholders could pay more or less depending on fire risk.
