In an era where insurance agents are often misunderstood or unfairly criticized, I want to share a story that highlights the integrity and heart that still exists in our industry.
Recently, one of my clients in California called me in distress. Her husband was in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), receiving care they felt was inadequate. They strongly believed he would recover better at home. However, the SNF warned them that if they chose to leave, Humana would not cover any of their medical bills — understandably causing a lot of fear and confusion.
I reached out to my Florida Humana Broker Executive, Jason Cabrera, for guidance. Even though this situation was completely outside of his region, Jason immediately stepped in.
He confirmed that what the facility told my clients was NOT TRUE. Then, he personally connected with the right teams to ensure my elderly clients could safely return home — with the proper care and coverage they needed.
Jason didn’t have to help. He’s based across the country and could have easily said, "Not my territory." Instead, his response when I offered to give him credit was simple: "Don't worry about it, my friend — it’s just how I operate."
