Huge accomplishment!!! All of MAPIA did their part in supporting this endeavor that past LONG few years!

A Victory for Policyholder Choice in Massachusetts

Massachusetts has taken an important step forward for policyholders and the public adjusting profession.

Senate Bill 785 protects an insured’s right to hire, retain, consult with, and utilize a licensed public insurance adjuster—preventing insurance policies from taking that choice away from the policyholder.

This is a victory worth celebrating.

Massachusetts now joins a very small number of states that have taken legislative action to protect a policyholder’s ability to choose professional representation during the claims process.

But the work is far from finished.

With protections like these enacted in only three states, there is still a long road ahead to ensure policyholders across the country have the same freedom to seek professional assistance when navigating an insurance claim.

NAPIA is proud to support efforts that protect policyholder choice, strengthen the public adjusting profession, and ensure consumers have the right to representation when they need it most.

Today, we celebrate the victory. Tomorrow, we keep working.

For the next week, MAG Public Adjusters will be participating in the Appalachian Service Project (ASP), a volunteer organization dedicated to repairing homes and serving families throughout Appalachia.

This year, I’ll have the privilege of serving alongside my daughter, Izzy, as we work with other volunteers to help make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in need.

As a result, our office will be closed during the week, and phone and internet access may be limited while we’re working in remote areas. We will continue to monitor messages as service allows and will return to normal business operations on Monday, June 29th.

Severe Weather Alert for Massachusetts

A tornado watch has been expanded into portions of Massachusetts as strong storms move through the region.

Now is a good time to:
•Secure outdoor furniture, grills, and umbrellas
•Move vehicles away from trees if possible
•Charge phones and backup batteries
•Review your emergency plan and safe shelter location
•Take a quick walk around your property and document its current condition

If damage does occur, remember:
Take photos before making temporary repairs.
Save receipts for any emergency expenses.
Report the loss promptly.

Stay safe, stay weather aware, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about storm-related property damage.

The storm may be over, but now is the time to check for damage.

Yesterday’s wind and rain were a good reminder that even a short storm can cause issues that aren’t immediately obvious.

Take a few minutes today to check:
• Missing or lifted shingles
• Fallen tree limbs
• Gutters and downspouts
• Water stains on ceilings or walls
• Basement moisture or seepage
• Siding, fences, and outdoor structures

If you discover damage, be sure to take photos before making temporary repairs and keep any receipts for emergency mitigation work.

The weather is FINALLY starting to feel like summer… which means now is a good time to get ahead on home maintenance before the heat, storms, and summer surprises roll in.

A few quick things to add to your summer prep list:
• Clean gutters and downspouts after spring debris
• Check outdoor spigots and hoses for leaks
• Trim tree limbs hanging over roofs or power lines
• Test your sump pump before heavy rain season
• Inspect your roof for missing shingles or damage
• Review your insurance policy so you know what’s covered BEFORE you need it

A little preparation now can save a lot of stress later.

This Mother’s Day, we want to recognize all of the incredible mothers out there balancing family, careers, and everything in between.

For us at MAG Public Adjusters, this day is especially meaningful because behind so much of our company’s growth is an amazing mom — my wife, Melinda.

In addition to being an incredible mother to Izzy and Charlotte, Melinda has played a huge role behind the scenes at MAG, handling our social media, advertising, and helping push this company forward every single day. She also designed our logos and helped shape the MAG brand into what it is today. Her creativity, dedication, and constant support have helped us continue to grow and reach more families in need.

What makes it even more impressive is that she does all of this while also working as a Labor & Delivery nurse — helping bring new life into the world while somehow still giving so much to our family and our business.

We are beyond grateful for everything she does, both at home and professionally.

Happy Mother’s Day to Melinda, and to all of the hardworking moms making a difference every day.
